Ochalek - Teaching individuals who menstruate how to communicate when they experience menstrual-related pain or discomfort

This study is seeking to teach individuals who menstruate how to communicate when they are experiencing menstrual related pain or discomfort, as well as ask for relief from said pain/discomfort.


Requirements to participate:

  • A diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

  • Has had their menarche (i.e., first period) at least 1 year ago

  • Experiences at least a semi-regular menstrual cycle

  • Must demonstrate in some way that they likely experience pain during during their menstrual cycle

  • Must not have skin sensitives or be allergic to silicone, conductive hydrogel, or hydrocolloid patches

  • Has not been diagnosed with a pre-existing heart condition nor medically depends on an electronic device (e.g., pacemaker)
